European Active Schools Week

We really enjoyed the stations in the hall for active schools week. Lots of giggles and lots movement.

Plant Studies

We are studying plants. We are experimenting with plant growth and watering plants with different substances. You can clearly see the flower that has been watered with salt water is beginning to wilt.

The picture below is an experiment to attempt to show the importance of plants to the earth. There are three bottles with the one containing soil, one with mulch and the last with flowers. The plant water that will be collected in the bottle with flowers planted should be the cleanest.
The bottle under the container of soil shall be the dirtiest but will also show soil erosion. There is nothing holding the soil together and so the soil being to erode away and collect in the bottle underneath.

This shows the speed at which the flower soaks water up through its stem.

Football Training

We had a fantastic first football training session today. We trained hard, learned some new skills and felt great after the session. We are looking forward to our next training session.

Spectacular Soap

The Science Behind It
Different liquids react differently when mixed. Milk consists mainly of water. It also contains fat. Some fluids will be repelled by one another, moving away from one another. Others will be attracted to one another and form bonds.
The soap in the cotton ball is designed to break and split fat up, which is why we use it for washing plates. When the soap interacts with the fat in the milk it breaks its bond with the water and appears to push it to the side of the dish. This is because it has broken the surface tension of the water.

We learned certain substance repel each other and other substances attracts each other

Team Teaching

We love Team Teaching. We are lucky enough to have Team Teaching in both literacy and numeracy.  It allows us to practice new skills and concepts in small groups.
