The Finished Product!

Here are the finished products.. We hope you like them! :)

Can you guess who designed this room!?

Julia J came up with her own colour scheme for her bedroom. It looks so modern and vintage at the same time!

Pauline put her initials on her bedroom wall. It looks fantastic!

Rola wanted to have a place to chill out in her room, so she made herself a comfy  chair and rug to sit and lie on!

Alana even made herself a light to hang from the ceiling!

Dream Room Exhibition!

Bhíomar ag foghlaim faoi rudaí atá sa bhaile an seachtain seo sa rang Gaeilge. So, in art we decided to become interior designers and design our own dream bedrooms using clay and show boxes. Here is the beginning of our creations... We will update you when they are finished.... :)

City sports!!

We are so proud of our athletics team in Merlin Woods! Muinteoir Michelle and Muinteoir Anne Marie and the team have put in so much work with early morning training sessions, and also training at lunch time.
We were so happy to see everyone give their all in all their races, and also how kind and positive everyone was to all of their friends! Rola, from 5th class, won first place over all again this year! She's going for the hat trick next year! Well done Rola! Christian from 4th class also came second in his sprint! Also, well done to the u11s boys relay team who won medals too! Well done to everyone, ye are superstars and we are so proud of you! :)

Boy power! :)

We would like to congratulate the boys on their Gaelic football performances on Friday! They battled to the finish and managed to get a win for Merlin Woods! Well done to all involved, we are so proud!!

Girl Power!!

The girls Gaelic football team went to Renmore last week with Muinteoir Bernie and Muinteoir Niamh! They won 2 or of their 3 matches. Their positive spirit and determination helped them to win 2 very tough matches. As you can see, they really enjoyed themselves and had a ball at the blitz! :) Well done ladies!

Merlin College

The boys and girls from Merlin College, along with Mr Kearney invited us over to experience what life is like Merlin College. We had so much fun! Students from 2nd year put us into groups, and we got to do so much fun stuff! We started off with PE, we got to play basketball, soccer and volleyball. Then, in our groups, we got a tour of the whole school! We got to see what goes on in Metalwork, woodwork, home ec and science.
We also got to see some of our older brothers and sisters work in the woodwork room! We had a great time, and thanks so much to Mr Kearney and the second years for taking such good care of us!

Best line! :)

We worked really hard on our lining up, and quiet voices in the classroom at break time and our hard work paid off! We won best line! As a treat, we got to go to the park. It was so much fun!

Digestion

Did you know that it takes 8 seconds for food to get down your food pipe also known as the osophagus?! We conducted an experiment to show what happens food when it goes through the digestive system.

First, we showed the food being chewed in the mouth by the teeth.

The food then mixes with saliva in the moth, so we added water to the bread! It went all mushy and soft.

When the food get to the stomach, it mixes with acid.
So we mixed it with vinegar!

All of the nutrients in the food go into the bloodstream when it reaches the small intestine.

The remainder and excess water go to the large intestine and are then removed
From the body!

1916 Display in Druid Theatre

We have learnt a lot about the 1916 Rising this year, as it is the Centinery celebration of the Rising this year. We have made projects, and also wrote some diary entries based on the seven revolutionaries. We all went to Druid theatre to listen to a Historian show us some actual artefacts from the Rising. We got to hold replicas of some of the guns that Padraic Pearse and James Conolly used during the Rising. We got to see costumes that the soldiers wore, and got to see what different soldiers of different ranks had to wear. It was so cool, we really enjoyed it! It was really good to actually see all of the things that we talked about in school!
